The placenta is an important structure for the development of a foetus.

Placenta is a disc-like structure which connects foetus with mother. It delivers food, oxygen to the foetus and removes carbon dioxide, nitrogenous waste from foetus. It acts as barrier to germs and helps in secretion of Estrogen and Progesterone. Thus, placenta is an important structure for the development of foetus.
