`0*1` M urea solution shows less depression in freezing point than `0*1 M MgCl_2` solution. Explain.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Depression in freezing point is a colligative property which depends upon number of particles present in the solution. `MgCl_2` when dissolved in water gives three particles per molecules, `(MgCl_2 to Mg^(2+) + 2C1^(-)` ) while urea remains undissociated
