A pulley system with V.R. = 4 is used to lift a load of 175 kgf through a vertical height of 15 m. The effort required is 50 kgf in the downward direction. `(g=10Nkg^(-1))`
Calculate :
M.A. of the pulley system.

Text Solution

Given : Velocity Ratio (V.R.) = 4
Load (L) = 175 kgf
= `175xx10N` = 1750 N
Displacement of load `(d_(2))` = 15m
`therefore` Effort (E) = 50kgf
= `50xx10` N = 500N
`g=10Nkg^(-1)`.
`M.A.=L/E=1750/500=3.5`
