Why is a nuclear fusion reaction called a thermo nuclear reaction ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Nuclear fusion takes place at extremely high temperature and pressure and the two nuclei due to their thermal agitations acquire sufficient kinetic energy so as to overcome the force of repulsion between them when they approach each other, so they get fused. Hence, it is called a thermo nuclear reactions.
