Why Gr-17 elements acts as good oxidising agent?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Gr-17 elements are halogens, Halogens are most electronegative among other group in periodic table. So they can accept electrons easily to form neares nobel gas configuration. So they get reduced and oxidises others. So they act as oxidising agent.
