The natural process by which `CO_2,H_2O,CH_4,N_2O` etc in atmosphere do not allow heat radiated by earth to travel into space and thereby maintaining atmospheric temperature suitable for sustaining life on earth is known as green house effect.
The phenomenon of gradual increase of temperature of world is known as global warming.
