(a) Explant: An explant is any part of a plant that is grown in a test tube under sterile conditions in nutrient media.
(b) Totipotency: The ability to generate a whole plant from any cell/explants.
(c) Micropropagation: The method of producing thousands of plants in very short time through tissue culture.
(d) Somaclones: Plants which will be genetically identical to original plant, from which they were grown.
(e) Somatic hybrids: Protoplasts from two differnet varieties of plants (with desirable characters) are fused to get hybrid protoplasts.
