Synthesis is a type of chemical reaction in which two or more simple substances combine to form a single product It is a direct combination type of chemical reaction.
(i) Two elements combine to form compounds.
For example, carbon burns in oxygen to form gaseous compound, carbon dioxide.

(ii) Two or more compounds combine to form a single product
Photosynthesis reaction is also a synthesis reaction, called as photochemical reaction.
