Explain why Teflon is used in making non-stick cooking utensils.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Teflon is a very rough polymer with resistance towards heat and to the action of many chemicals. Due to low coefficient of friction, its surface is waxy and does not allow substances to stick on it. Thus, Teflon is used in making non-stick utensils by coating a thin layer of it on teh inner surface of the utensils.
