The wavelength of light of a particular ...

The wavelength of light of a particular colour is 5800 Å. Express it in.
(i) nanometre and (ii)metre

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Wavelength of light of particular colour = 5800 Å
(i)1Å=`10^(-10)` m
So, 5800 Å = `5800xx10^(-10)` m
Again 1 m = `10^9` m
So, `5800xx10^(-10) m = 5800xx10^(-10) xx10^9` nm
Or, `5800xx10^(-10)m = 5800xx10^(-1)` nm
Or, `5800xx10^(-10)m`= 580 nm
`therefore` 5800 Å = 580 nm
(ii) 1 Å = `10^(-10)` m
So, 5800 Å = `5800xx10^(-10)` m
So , 5800 Å = `5.8xx10^(-7)` m
