A body starts with an initial velocity o...

A body starts with an initial velocity of 10 ms and acceleration 5 ms. Find the distance covered by it in 5 s.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Initial velocity = u = 10 m/s
Acceleration = a= `5 "ms"^(-2)`
Time = t= 5 s
s= distance covered
Using the equation of motion,
`s=ut+1//2at^2`
or, `s=10xx5+1//2xx5xx5^2`
or, s=50+62.5
`therefore` s=112.5 m
