When the temperature of the atmosphere reaches below `0^(@)C,` then the water-vapour present in air, instead of condensing, freeze directly in the form of minute particles of ice. Many particles condense and take cottonlike shape which is called snow. Thus snow contains air pockets. Air is a bad conductor of heat. Hence snow is a good heat-insulator. In ice there in no air pocket.
