Solve
The vapour density of a gas is 8. What would be the volume occupied by 24.0 g of the gas at STP ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Given, (Vapour Density)V.D= 8
`:. Mol wt. = 2 xx V.D= 2xx 8=16`
No. of moles in 24.0 g of gas
`= (Wt)/("Mol. Wt")= (24.0)/(16)= 1.5` moles
At S.T.P 1 mole of a gas occupies 22.4l
`:.` 1.5 moles( 24.0g) of the gas will occupy =` (22.4 xx 1.5)/( 1) = 33.6 l.`
