A metal A in the form of turnings reacted with a hot concentrated dibasic acid `H_2 B` and produced a deep blue solution of salt AB. When a wire of metal C is put in the solution of AB, the deep blue colour gels slowly discharged leaving behind a colourless CB salt solution and A was generated. Identify A, `H_2 B`, AB, C and CB, and also explain the observations.

A metal 'X' used to make calorimeters reacts with concentrated nitric acid to form a soluble salt Y. When few drops of ammonium hydroxide are added pale blue precipitates 'Z' are obtained. These precipitates dissolve in excess of ammonium hydroxide to form deep blue solution 'A'. Identify the metal X and give all the chemical equations.

A liquid 'A' is treated with Na_(2)CO_(3) solution. A mixture of two salts 'B' and 'C' is produced in the solution. The mixture on acidification with sulphuric acid and distillation produces the liqiud 'A" again. Identify 'A','B' and 'C' and write the equations involved.

When a white crystalline compound X is heated with K_(2)Cr_(2)O_(7) and concentrated H_(2)SO_(4) a reddish brown gas A is evolved. On passing A into caustic soda solution, a yellow coloured solution of B is obtained. Neutralizing the solution B with acetic acid and on subsequent addition of lead acetate, a yellow precipitate C is obtained. When X is heated with NaOH solution, a colourless gas is evolved and on passing this gas into K_2HgI_4 solution, a reddish brown precipitate D is formed. Identify A, B, C, D and X.
