If snapdragon plant with red flowers was crossed with a plant containing white flowers, the `F_1` generation produced pink flowers. In this case, the `F_1` phenotype is intermediate to the parental phenotypes, because some pigment is produced in the `F_1` flowers and neither the red nor the white colour is dominant. This condition is known as incomplete dominance.
