In the first compound,
Hydrogen content =5.93%
Oxygen content will be =100-5.93=94.07
1 part of hydrogen combines with oxygen `=(94.07)/(5.93) =15.86"parts"`
In other compound,
Hydrogen content =11.2%
Oxygen content will be =100-11.2 =88.8
1 part of hydrogen combines with oxygen `=(88.8)/(11.2)=7.93"parts"`
Ratio of oxygen that combines with hydrgeon is 15.86 : 7.93
It is a simple ratio, which is in agreement with Law of multiple proportion, which says
When two elements combine to form two or more compounds, then the different mass of one element, which combine with a fixed mass of other bear a simple whole number ratio one another.
