Does the rates of the reaction depend on...

Does the rates of the reaction depend on the amount of `delta^(+)` on the attacked C of RX?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

No, the amount of partial positive charge decreases with decrease in electronegativity of X in the order of F>Cl>Br > I. However, it is the reverse of the reactivities of RX. RI is most and RF is the least reactive.
