The rate of `S_(N^2)` reactions decreases with increase in steric hindrance. Therefore, 1-bromopentane being a primary alkyl halide reacts faster than 2-bromopentane which is a secondary halide.
(ii) 1-bromo-2-methylbutane being a primary alkyl halide reacts faster than 2-bromo-2-methylbutane which is a secondary halide.
