Which is more elastic, steel or rubber? Why?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Steel, Because, modulus of rigidity `=( "Stress")/( "Strain")` . Consider a steel and rubber wire of equal length and equal cross-section area. If the same force is applied to both, then strain of rubber is more, i.e., its elasticity its less or steel is more elastic.
