What will be the frequency of the note emitted by a wire 100cm long when stretched by a weight of 100kg, if 2m of wire has a mass of 12.25gm?

Text Solution

Length of the wire `=l=100 cm =1m`
Tension `=T=100 xx 9.8 =980N`
Mass per unit length `=mu=(12.25 xx 10^(-3))/(2)=6.125 xx 10^(-3) kg//m`
Frequency `=n=1/(2l) sqrt(T/mu)`
`=(1)/(2 xx 1) sqrt((980)/(6.125 xx 10^(-3))) =200Hz`
