Give three examples each of solid, liquid and gaseous covalent compounds.

Covalent compounds are soluble in organic solvents, like benzene, carbon tetrachloride, ether etc. Generally they are insoluble in water, but some polar covalent compounds such as HCI, `NH_3` and acetic acid `(CH_2 COOH)` dissolve in water.
