A compound (molecular mass 246) has following data :

From the data, find out :
Atomic weight of elements A, B, C and D.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Calculation of the atomic mass :
We know, relative number of atoms
`=("Percentage of elements")/("Atomic mass of the elements")`
Hence, atomic mass
`=("Percentage of elements")/("Relative number of atoms of the elements")`
Therefore, atomic mass of A= `(9.76)/(0.406)=24`
Atomic mass of B = `(13.01)/(0.406)=32`
Atomic mass of C=`(26.01)/(1.625)=16`
Atomic mass of D = `(51.22)/(2.846)=17.9`
