Divide the join of points P(2, 5) and Q(...

Divide the join of points P(2, 5) and Q(-7, 4) in the ratio 1 : 2
internally

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Let R be the point which divides PQ internally in the ratio 1 : 2 Then coordinates of R are
`x = (1 xx (-7) + 2 xx 2)/(1 + 2) = (-3)/3 = -1 , y = (1 xx 4 + 2 xx 5)/(1 + 2) = 14/3`

i.e. the required point is `(-1, 14.3)`
