When you walk on a surface, who does work on what? If the surface has more friction, will more work be doen? If the surface is frictionless and we try to walk, will any work be done?

While walking on the surface if our feet do not slip on the surface, then friction between feet and ground will be static. And this static friction doesn't do any work. Basically our muscles do the work due to which we walk. Our internal energy is consumed when we walk. It does not matter whether the friction is less or more as long as it is sufficient for walking.
If there is no friction, then we would not be able to walk. Our muscles will do work if we make the movements of our body parts.
