In the following figure shown, a liquid ...

In the following figure shown, a liquid is filled into the vessel up to a height h and the forces exerted against the liquid by the walls of the vessel are shown by arrows, the force being everywhere perpendicular to the walls of the vessel. For this situation mark out the correct statement(s).

A

The horizontal component of the forces on the left and right side inclined faces will cancel each other.

B

The weight of the section lettered `A` is supported by vertical component of forces acting on the inclined faces.

C

Force exerted by the liquid on the base of the vessel is greater than (`p_(0)+rhogh)A` where `rho` Net force exerted by liquid on the base of the vessel is in the vertical downward direction. is the density of the liquid and `A` is base area of the vessel.

D

Net force exerted by liquid on the base of the vessel is in the vertical downward direction.

The correct Answer is:
A, B, C, D

The free body diagram of then entire liquid is as shown in figure `m` is the mass of the entire liquid in the vessel. As the liquid is in equilibrium net force on the liquid in any direction has to be zero. From the above statement we can say that option a is correct.

For liquid contained section lettered `A`, vertical component of forces action on the inclined face is equla to atmosphereic pressure force and weight of liquid. Force on the base is atmostpheric fore plus weight in section `B`. From the above statement, we can say (direction or indirectly) that optin `b , c` and `d` are also correct.
