What should be the pressure inside a small air bubble of 0.1 mm radius situated just below the water surface ? Surface tension of water `=7.2xx10^(-2) Nm^(-1)` and atmospheric pressure `=1.013xx10^(5) Nm^(-2)`.

The excess pressure for air bubble is
`p=(2T)/r`
or `p=(2xx72xx10^(-3))/(0.1xx10^(-3)=1440N//m^(2)`
Since the bubble is just below the water suface, the external pressue on it is equal to the atmospheric pressure `P`. Hence the pressure inside the bubble is
`P+p=1.013xx10^(5)+1440=1.013+10^(5)+0.0144xx10^(5)`
`=1.274xx10^(5)N//m^(3)`
