Two point charges of +5xx10^(-19)C and +...

Two point charges of `+5xx10^(-19)C` and `+20xx10^(-19)C` are separated by a distance of 2m. Find the point on the line joining then at which electric field intersity is zero.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Let electric field at point P is zero, then

`(1)/(4 pi epsilon_(0))(5xx10^(-19))/(X^(2))=(1)/(4 pi epsilon_(0))(20xx10^(-19))/((2-X)^(2))`
or `(2-X)/(X)=2` or `X=(2)/(3)m`.
