In the circuit given in fig. swithc S is at position 1 for long time. Find the total heat generated in resistor of resistance `(2r_0),` when the switch S is shifted from position 1 to position 2.

A

`(C_0E_0^2)/(2)`

B

`C_0E_0^2`

C

`(C_0E_0^2)/(3)`

D

none

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
C

Uncharged capacitor behaves as a short circuit just after closing
the switch. But charged capacitor behaves as the battery of emf
V just after closing the switch. Therfore,
`I = (q_0)/(C_1(2R)) = (q_0)/(2RC_1) = (V)/(2R)`
