In the shows arrangement of a meter bridge, if `AC` corresponding to null deflection of galvanometer is x, what would be its value if the radius of the wire `AB` is doubled?

A

`x`

B

`x//4`

C

`4x`

D

`2x`

The correct Answer is:
A

At null point, `R_(1)//R_(2) = R_(3)//R_(4) = x//(100 - x)`. If radius of the wire is doubled, then the resistance of `AC` will change and the resistance of `CB` will also change. But since `R_(1)//R_(2)` does not change, so `R_(3)//R_(4)` should also not change at null point. Therefore, point `C` does not change.

In the shown arrangement of the experiment of the meter bridge if AC corresponding to null deflection of galvanometer is x, what would be its value if the radius of the wire AB is doubled?

Statement I: In the meter bridge experiment shown in figure, the balance length AC corresponding to null deflection of the galvanometer is x. If the radius of the wire AB is doubled, the balanced length becomes 4x. Statement II: The resistance of a wire is inversely proportional to the square of its radius.

STATEMENT-1 : In the meter bridge experimeter shown in figure the balance length AC corresponding to null deflection of the galvanometer is x. If the radius of the wire AB is doubled, the balance length becomes 4x. and STATEMENT-2 : The resistance of a wire a inversely proportional to the square of its radius.

A nichrome wire AB, 100 cm long and of uniform cross section cross section is mounted on a meter scale the points A and B coinciding with 0 cm and 100 cm marks respectively. The wire has a resistance S = 50 ohm, Ay point C along this wire, between A and B is called a variable point to which on end of and electrical element is commeted. In the following questions this arrangement will be referred to as 'wire AB'. In the circuit adjacent arrangement it is found that deflection in the galvanometer is 10 divisions. Also the voltage across the 'wire AB' is equal to the across the galvanometer. the current sensitivity of the galvanometer is about.

For the following diagram the galvanometer shows zero deflection then what is the value of R?

If potentiometer wire of length L and resistance 10 Omega is connected in series with battery of emf 2.5 V and a resistance in its primary circuit. The null point corresponding to a cell of a emf 1 V is obtained at a distance L/2 .If the resistance in the primary circuit is doubled then the position of new null point will be

Two unknown resistances X and Y are placed on the left and right gaps of a meter bridge. The null point in the galvanometer is obtained at a distance of 80 cm from left. A resistance of 100 Omega is now connected in parallel across X . The null point is then found by shifting the sliding contact toward left by 20 cm . Calculate X and Y .
