A small object is embedded in a glass sphere (mu =1.5) of radius 5.0 cm at a distance 1.5 cm left to the centre. Locate the image of the object as seen by an observer standing (a) to the left of the sphere and (b) to the right of the sphere.

a. `R=5cm` for the observer at left:
`(1)/(v)-(mu)/(-AO)=(1-mu)/(-R)`
`AO=3.5cm`
`rArr v=-(70)/(23)=-3cm` cm
Hence, image is formed 3cm to the right of A or 2cm to the left of C.

b. For observer to right
`(1)/(v)-(mu)/(-BO)=(1-mu)/(-R)`
`v=-(130)/(17) =-7.65 cm`
Hence, image is formed 7.65 left of B or `2.65 cm` left of C.
