Given that at `1000 K`
`2SO_(2)(g)+O_(2)(g)hArr2SO_(3)(g),K=261`
Calculate K for the following equations:
a. `2SO_(3)(g)hArr2SO_(2)(g)+O_(2)(g)`
b. `SO_(3)(g)hArrSO_(2)(g)+(1)/(2)O_(2)(g)`
c. `SO_(2)(g)+(1)/(2)O_(2)(g)hArrSO_(3)(g)`

Text Solution

Equation `(a)` is the reverse of the given equation
`:. K_(a)=1/261=0.0038` (for (a))
As the equation (ii) has been obtained by dividing the equation `(a)` by `2, K` for equation `(b)` will be
`K_(b)=(0.0038)^(1/2)=0.0619`
Reversing `(b)` we get equation `(c ) K` for which will be
`K=1/0.0619=16.155`
