Which of the following are iso-electroni...

Which of the following are iso-electronic as well as iso-structural ?
`NO_(3)^(-),CO_(3)^(2-),ClO_(3)^(-),SO_(3)`

A

`CO_(3)^(2-) ,CIO_(3)^(Θ)`

B

`CO_(3)^(2-),NO_(3)^(Θ)`

C

`SO_(3) ,CO_(3)^(2-)`

D

`SO_(3) ,NO_(3)^(Θ)`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`NO_(3)^(Θ)` : Number of `e^(-')s = (6 +8 xx 3 +2) =32`
Hybridisation of `C` is `sp^(3)`
`CO_(3)^(2-)` : Number of `e^(-,)s =(6+8xx3+2)=32`
Hybridisation of C is `sp^(3)` .
`CIO_(3)^(Θ)` : Number of `e^(-')s = (17 + 8 xx 3 + 1) =42`
Hybridisation of `CI` is `sp^(3)`
`SO_(3)` : Number of `e^(-')s = (16 + 8 xx 3) =40 `
Hybridisation of `S` is `sp^(2)`
Therefore `NO_(3)^(Θ)` and `CO_(3)^(2-)` are isostructural and isoelectronic .
