Number of remaining `p e^(-')s`
`=16 -8 =8`
`N_(b) =6, Na =2`
`BO` of `O_(2) = (6-2)/(2) =2` Two unapaired `e^(-')s` in antibonding `MO`.
(ii) Number of `e^(-,)s`in `O_(2)^(o+)=16-1=15 e^(-,)s` .
Number remaining `p e^(-')s =15 -8 =7 e^(-'s)`
`N_(b) = 6, N_(a) =1` one unpaired `e^(-)` in antibonding `MO`
`BO of O_(2)^(o+) = ((6-1)/(2)) =2.5`
Hence `O_(2)` as well as `O_(2)^(o+)` is paraamagnetic and `BO` of `O_(2)^(o+) gt BO` of `O_(2)` .
