NaBr gives pale yellow precipitate with ...

`NaBr` gives pale yellow precipitate with `AgNO_(3)` solution but `CBr_(4)` does not. Why ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`NaBr` is an ionic compound and hence gives `Br^(ө)` ions in the solution which combines with `Ag^(o+)` ions from `AgNO_(3)` to form a pale yellow precipitaite of `AgBr` but `CBr_(4)` is a covalent compound and does not give `Br^(ө)` ions.
