Boron atom in `BF_(3)` in `sp^(2)` hybridised.
In `BF_(3),B` atom has only six electrons in the valance shell and has an empty `2p` orbital in which it can easily accept a pair of electron from some other molecule/ion. Hence, `BF_(3)` behaves as a Lewis acid.
