Which of two elements, carbon and silver, form multiple bonds?

Text Solution

Out of `C` and `Si`, carbon easily forms multiple bonds whereas silicon does not. This is due to the small size of carbon atom, which result in greater extent of overlap and hence formation of stable `ppi-ppi` bonds.
