What benefit might be gained, if a germanium semiconductor were doped with silver or gold rather than gallium atoms?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Since each Ga atoms has three valence electrons while Ag and Au atoms have only one valence electron each, so doping with Ag or Au will create more holes per doping atom hence more current carriers.
