The distance between the plates of a parallel plate capacitor is d. A metal plate of thickness (d)/(2) is placed between the plates. What will be its effect on the capacitance of the system?

A parallel plate capacitor of plate area A and plate separation d is charged to a potential difference V and then the battery is disconnected. A slab of dielectric constant k is then inserted between the plates of the capacitor so as to fill the space between the plates. If Q, E and W denote respectively the charge on each plate, the electric field between the plates and the work done in the process of inserting the slab, then

The distance between the two plates of a parallel plate air capacitor is d. A piece of metal of thickness (d)/(2) and of area equal to that of the plates is inserted between the plates. Compare the capacitances in the two cases.

Between the plates of a parallel plate capacitor of capacity C, two parallel plates, of the same material and area same as the plate of the original capacitor, are placed. If the thickness of these plates is equal to 1/5 th of the distance between the plates of the original capacitor, then the capacity of the new capacitor is

A dielectric slab is inserted between the plates of a capacitor. The charge on the capacitor is Q and the magnitude of the induced charge on each surface of the dielectric is Q'
