2xx 10^(8) atoms of carbon are arranged ...

`2xx 10^(8)` atoms of carbon are arranged side by side. Calculate the radius of carbon atom if the length of this arrangement is 2.4 cm.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Since `2 xx 10^8` atoms are placed side by side in length of 2.4 cm, the diamter of a carbon atom
`=(2.4)/(2 xx 10^(8)) =1.2 xx 10^(-8)cm`
Radius of a carbon atom
`=(1.2 xx 10^(-8))/(2)=6.0 xx 10^(-9)cm`
`=6.0 xx 10^(-11)m=0.06nm`
