Compound X (Molecular formula, C5H8O) do...

Compound X (Molecular formula, `C_5H_8O`) does not react appreciably with Lucas reagent at room temperature but gives a precipitate with ammoniacal silver nitrate. With excess of MeMgBr,0.42g of X gives 224 Ml of `CH_4` at STP. Treatment of X with `H_2` in presence of Pt catalyst followed by boiling with excess Hi,gives n-pentane. Suggest structure of X and write the equations involved.

A metal 'X' on treatment with NaOH forms a white precipitate (A) which is soluble in excess of NaOH to yield complex (B). (A) is soluble in HCI to produce (C). On strong heating (A) gives (D) from which the metal is extracted. Identity X, A, B, C, D and write the equation involved.

An organic compound 'A' (C_2H_6O) reacts with sodium to form a compound 'B' with the evolution of hydrogen gas and gives a yellow compound 'C' when treated with iodine and NaOH. When heated with conc. H_2SO_4 at 140^@C it gives a compound 'D' C_4H_(10) which on treatment with HI at 100^@C gives 'E'. 'B' when heated with 'E' also gives back 'D'. Identify 'A' to 'E' and write equations for the reaction involved.

Primary alkyl halide C_(4)H_(9)Br (A) reacted with alcoholic KOH to give compound (B). Compound (B) is reacted with HBr to give (C) which is an isomer of (A). When (A) is reacted with sodium metal it gives compound (D), C_(8)H_(18) which is different from the compound formed when n-butyl bromide is reacted with sodium. Give the structural formula of (A) and write the equations for all the reactions.
