What differences do you see in the growth of trees like the mango, banya and peepal and that of bamboo, coconut and toddy plants?

During growth of mango,banyan and peepal many branches and sub-branches are given out. This increases their canopy. Bamboo,coconut and toddy plants do not develop branches. They grow tall without branching.
