Why is white light considered to be polychromatic in nature?

Polychromatic light consists of many colours each having its characteristic wavelength. White light is polychromatic light, because white light is made up of seven colours i.e., Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange and Red (VIBGYOR).
