What is the role of vascular cambium in dicots?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Vascular cambium is the meristematic tissue whose cells possess the ability to divide. The cells of vascular cambium give rise to the secondary xylem and secondary pholem tissues during secondary growth in the dicots which results in the increases in the girth of dicot stems and roots. Hence, vascular cambium participates in the secondary growth of dicots.
