Distinguish between average speed and average velocity.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Average velocity is the ratio of total displacement of the object to the total time interval in which the displacement occurs. Average speed is the ratio of total path length traversed by the object to the total time taken by the object during its course of motion. Average velocity of an object in motion can be zero but the average speed of a moving object can never be zero.
