A plane wavefront is incident from air (...

A plane wavefront is incident from air `(mu=1)` at an angle of `37^(@)` with a horizontal boundary of a refractive medium from air of refractive index `mu=3/2` Find the angle of refracted wavefront with the horizontal boundary.

Text Solution

It has been given that incident wavefront makes `37^(@)` with horizontal . Hence incident ray makes `37^(@)` with normal as the ray is perpendicular to the wavefront.
Now, by Snell's law
`(sin37^(@))/(sinr)=3/2`
`sin r=2/3xx3/5=2/5`
`r=sin^(-1)(2/5)`
Which is same as angle of refractive wavefront with horizontal.
