In graphite carbon undergoes sp hybridisation. Each carbon forms three `sigma` bonds with three neighbouring carbon atoms. Fourth electron forms `pi` -bond and it is delocalised. Due to the presence of these moving (or) free electrons graphite acts as good conductor
