Show that the circumfernce of the Bohr o...

Show that the circumfernce of the Bohr orbit for the hydrogen atom is an integral multiple of the de-Broglie wavelength as-sociated with the electron revolving around the orbit .

Text Solution

Consider the Bohr.s angluar momentum equation.
`mvr=(nh)/(2pi)`
i.e The angular momentum of an electron is integral multiple of `(h)/(2pi)`.
`mvr=(nh)/(2pi)`
`2pir=(nh)/(mv)`
According to de-Broglie.s wavelength `lamda=(h)/(mv)`
`2pir=n((h)/(mv))`
`2pir=nlamda`
Thus the circumference of the Bohr orbit is integral multiple of de-Broglie.s wave length.
