The `P^(H)` of `10^(-8)` M HCI is

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The given acid solution is very dilute. Hence the `H^(+)` obtained from the acid and water must be take into consideration
`H^(+)` ion concentration of acid is `10^(-8)M H^(+)` ion concentration of water is `10^(-7)M`
Total `[H^(+)]=10^(-8)+10^(-7)`
`:.p^(H)=-log1.1xx10^(-7)`
`=7-log 1.1=7.0414=6.995`
