Therefore , using this compound is replaced by a process in which liquefied carbon dioxide with a suitable detergent is used . This would not pollute ground water much . Now - a- day hydrogen peroxide is used for bleaching clothes is laundries. This gives better result and decreses the consumption of water .
Ex: Synthesis of ethanol is now commerically prepared by one step by the oxidation of ethane in presene of catalyst .
