A new unit of length is chosen so that the speed of light in vaccum is `1ms^-2`. If light takes 8 min and 20 s to cover this distance, what is the distance between the Sun and Earth in terms of the new unit?

We are given that velocity of light in vaccum,
c = 1 new unit of length `s^(-1)`
Time taken by light of Sun to reach the Earth,
t = 8 min 20 s `=8 times 60+20=500s`
`therefore` Distance between the Sun and the Earth.
`x=C times t=1` new unit of length `s^(-1) times 500 s`
`" "=500` new units of length
